Kayne West and MTV are hooking up to make a documentary on recently returned Iraq war veterans called “Choose or Lose & Kanye West Present: Homecoming”.
Kayne West explained: “There are hundreds of veterans out there who are falling through the cracks. They make the ultimate sacrifices for us by laying down their lives, but it seems like a lot of them just get forgotten about. I know my music inspires and helps a lot of people but you can always do more. I teamed up with MTV and took the opportunity to share the spotlight with these veterans and hear their stories.”
Kayne West and MTV VJ Sway Calloway will visit Iraq war veterans in their homes to hear their experiences of the war and how they are re-acclimating to civilian life. Kayne West will present each soldier with a gift such as paying their rent, wiping out their debt, or funding their tuition.
The U.S. government has been criticised for reneging on its promises to provide health care and other benefits for war veterans as well as unwillingness to aid veterans suffering from post traumatic stress syndrome and mental illnesses. There have been many cases of soldiers having to fight for their benefits when they return home, whilst coping with the difficulties associated with re-acclimation to civilian life.
Kayne West and MTV’s documentary “Choose or Lose & Kanye West Present: Homecoming” aims to bring attention to the real issues that face returning veterans.

Let’s hope the “gift” Kanye presents to the soldiers are not copies of his CD. That’ll probably just exacerbate any post traumatic stress syndrome the soldiers may have.
