Madonna Is 2008 Top Music Money Maker

Madonna topped the Billboard Magazine’s Moneymakers list of the top tours in 2008. Madonna raked in more than $242 million for her Sticky & Sweet Tour, which reportedly sold more than 1 million tickets, making it the highest-grossing tour ever by a solo artist. Madonna was followed by New Jersey’s favorite sons, Bon Jovi ($157 million) and Bruce Springsteen ($156 million), and the final shows by the reunited and now broken-up again Police ($109.9 million), and Celine Dion ($99,171,237). The top five Moneymakers are also the five acts that earned the most on tour, and in the same order, according to Billboard Boxscore.

Among the stats pointed out by Billboard Magazine is that despite easily topping the touring list, Madonna’s Hard Candy was only the 50th best-selling album in the U.S. in 2008, another sign that touring revenue is becoming a larger and larger part of artists’ revenues.

Even more remarkably, the top Moneymaker Madonna only had the 50th-best-selling album in the country. Madonna ranked 14th on the list of Digital Track Sellers and didn’t place on the Ringmasters chart. Her place on Moneymakers, like her $242,176,466 income, comes from the highest-earning tour, Sticky & Sweet Tour that took place in 2008.

Turns out, Britney Spears‘ upcoming tour is a going to be a kid-friendly one after all, particularly for her own kids, the boys Sean Preston and Jayden James. It is rumored that Britney Spears, Kevin Federline and the kids are Ready To Hit The Road. K-Fed’s attorney Mark Kalpan has denied the details. Sources have confirmed that a deal has, at last, been made for the Federtots to join their mother for Circus time. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline have almost finalized a custody arrangement, allowing both of them, the time to spend with their sons during Spears’s tour.

Spears will probably see her boys on “pretty much the same schedule that she has now,” Kaplan tells sources. Kevin Federline, 30, has primary custody of the boys, but Britney Spears, 27, has nearly 50-50 access to them in visitation rights. Mark Kaplan told, “Kevin is working to make them accessible by going on various central locations in various areas of the country”. “He is doing that because he wants her to be able to have the maximum positive environment around her to assure that the tour will be successful”, Mark Kaplan quoted. Mark Kaplan added: “I don’t think the kids will be at venues. They will be available in her life when she is done with the rigors of performing.”

The Escapades of George Michael: Long Live King George

George Michael is on his game. It’s been a year and the x-Wham! superstar is back on tour and has managed to stay out of the headlines for “stupid” drug possession charges and has reportedly signed a multi-million-pound contract with HarperCollins to write a “no-holds-barred” autobiography which he is to write “entirely himself”.

 

Fans attending George Michael’s concerts have been raving about his talent and blogging up a virtual storm filled with love, lust and admiration for the pop superstar. After his concert in Dallas fans wrote thousands of comments such as the ones below:

 

“What an amazing concert! My husband and I went last night and felt completely justified in spending $145 per ticket. George was so gracious and appreciative of his fans, and he gave such a heartfelt, energetic, and talented performance. His voice still has amazing range, and he looked like he was thoroughly enjoying himself.”

 

“HOLY COW!! Let me tell you, my husband and I were pleasantly surprised. George had the whole place on their feet!! I missed the song “Monkey” and the other songs mentioned too, but this concert sooooo was worth it. The singer later stated: “That’s the second time in a year I’ve been caught with one unused spliff in the car. I had no drink or drugs in my body. I haven’t got a problem with drugs.”

 

After Michael was charged for possession of marijuana he spoke outside of the courtroom and accepted responsibility for his crime but branded the “media coverage of this trial farcical.” In true George Michael form he added, “I’m glad to put this behind me and am now off to play the biggest show of my life at Wembley.”

George Michael began his musical career in a ska band called The Executive with his best friends Andrew Ridgeley, Paul Ridgeley, Andrew Leaver, and David Mortimer (aka David Austin).

In the autumn of 1987 Michael launched his explosive first solo album, Faith. The single “I Want Your Sex” from the album was heavily censored and not aired on many radio stations, which only increased the incredible buzz and hysteria surrounding the album.

 

George Michael responded to the media circus by stating that the sex act was a beautiful thing if it was monogamous. He even recorded a brief prologue for the video in which he said: “This song is not about casual sex.” One of the racier scenes the media attacked involved Michael writing the words “explore monogamy” on his partner’s back in lipstick.
